Pearson
Search

Overview:
Originally separated into unique sites, Educators and Students needed a consolidated Search experience that met their needs.

My role:
I served as the Lead UX Designer and adapted both the Educator and Student Search experiences using Algolia. I also performed discovery exercises to provide examples of Federated Search.

Research

I used competitive analysis to determine how Pearson’s competitors differentiated between Educators and Students search behaviors.

Predictive search

With thousands of products available, Predictive Search improves users ability to find what they are looking for quickly.

List vs Grid

Users process information differently. Providing them with a list view and a grid view makes their experience more trouble-free. Both views provide a complete listing of pricing, platform and formats available.

Filtering and sorting

Filtering: Filters can be applied to narrow down the search results.Based on research, users preferred to filter by Subject, then by Format and Price.

Sorting: Educators and Students also need a way to sort their results.

Federated Search Discovery

In order to provide thought leadership articles, blogs, events, and webinars — in addition to the product search, I explored Federated Search using a mega-menu.
